Humble Decorated In Operation Iraqi Freedom

NEWARK - Army Sgt. Sean M. Humble has been decorated with the Army Commendation Medal for supporting the mission of Operation Iraqi Freedom. The medal is awarded to individuals who, while serving in any capacity with the Army, have distinguished themselves by acts of heroism, meritorious achievement or meritorious service.

‘The Newborn Channel’ at Newark-Wayne Birthing Center

Image 1576 NEWARK - The Newark-Wayne Community Hospital Birthing and Women’s Care Center is now airing “The Newborn Channel” - a television programming package designed exclusively for new moms.
The Newborn Channel, which offers 37 different programs on critical parenting topics, was created to help answer some of the questions new parents have. Topics include infant care, new mom care, breastfeeding, immunizations, baby development, infant bathing, postpartum depression and more. Programs run 24-hours-a-day, seven-days-a-week and are offered in both English and Spanish. The Newborn Channel was made possible at Newark-Wayne through a grant from the March of Dimes and through funds provided by the Newark-Wayne Community Hospital Auxiliary and the ViaHealth of Wayne Foundation.

Vote on Lyons Proposition Dec. 12

$6.5 million projects have no local tax impact

LYONS - Lyons Central School District voters will go to the polls Dec. 12 to decide on a $6.5 million capital project that would add four classrooms to the elementary school, create an artificial athletic field, replace the high school roof and cover myriad other improvements.
The work, put up in two propositions, will not impact the tax rate will be paid for with state aid and district reserve funds, district officials have said.
Voting is from 10 a.m. - 8 p.m. at the Joint Maintenance Facility on Clyde Road.
Last week, a public hearing on the project attracted just 10 people and district officials said most all of them were affiliated with the district.
