Key Club members get ready to deliver food to the Ontario Food Pantry.

ONTARIO - This past October, Wayne Central High School’s Key Club hosted its most successful Trick or Treat for UNICEF campaign yet. Student donations topped $320 and a video dealing with AIDS in Africa was aired with the morning announcements for the entire school.
UNICEF is a world-wide organization working to better the health and education of children. This year, the target population is the children suffering from the AIDS pandemic, particularly in Kenya, where one of every three children faces the prospect of being infected with HIV/AIDS.
In November, Key Club headed a food drive that appealed to the faculty as well, and delivered more than 15 crates of food to Ontario Pantry. This local organization helps feed families in the area, particularly during the holiday and winter season.
The Key Club will be at EastView Mall in Victor on Dec. 23 from 5 - 8:30 p.m., as members ring the bells for the Salvation Army Red Kettle campaign.
In addition, Key Club members are planning to send a goodwill message to troops overseas. The club will sponsor a day to sign letters from home to men and women in the nation’s armed services away from home.
Other students interested in helping out should contact Meghan Upson, Erica Gardino, Kailyn Button, Kelly Engelmier, or stop down to Room, 21D at the high school. For more information, call Amy Gebhardt, public relations specialist, at 524-1008.
