As I See It- The Cost of Losing a Supermarket and What to do About It
Louise Hoffman Broach Wayuga Editor Tuesday, April 14 2009
Do you remember life before Wal-Mart?
In those days, many of us in the rural and even quasi-suburban areas of
Wayne County bought our food close to home. We shopped in the Shur Fine
in Marion, the Red & White in Red Creek, the P&Cs on the east

To the Editor:
In your March 18, 2009 “As I See It” column you wish to acknowledge
defeat for Wayne County in the construction of a new Lyons Amtrak rail
station. I disagree. Such a rail station would benefit the county and
its residents and should not be relinquished. You mention that over $1

results – this is appalling. Plans for a proposed Lyons station that
have been publicized to date are outrageous as they depict a “Taj
Mahal” structure for which there is no need or money.
