Newark Celebrates Girls Lacrosse

NEWARK – The Newark Reds Girls Lacrosse program held its end of the year banquet Sunday at the Newark Senior High School.
The first speaker was Modified Coach Bob Binggeli.  He praised his squad members for their efforts this season. This year’s Coaches Award was given to Samantha Diaz Cruz.  The Most Improved Player award was presented to Sarah Middlebrook and Halle Swan. The Heart Hustle Award was given to Julia Ginther.

Fenyn, Smith are Top Athletes

NEWARK – Newark Senior High School seniors Alyssa Fenyn and Ollie Smith were named the top female and male athletes of the year recently.
Fenyn led the Lady Reds Basketball Team to the Class A state championship this past season. She is the school’s all-time scorer with 2499 points. That total is the third best in Section V history. She was named this year’s Class A player of the state and was All Greater Rochester Player of the Year. She was named the Press Radio Club High School Female Athlete of the Year. She was nominated for the McDonalds All American Game.

Bicycle Safety

There are few things that will give you a greater sense of freedom than to jump on a bicycle and tour around town. Seeing the sights up close can be more fun than riding in a car and it’s a great way to be physically active. At the same time that you’re enjoying yourself, you have to keep safety in mind. It’s important that you wear a helmet every time you ride a bicycle, reminds Wayne County Public Health.
