Wayne Central Middle School Announces Academic Award Recipients

ONTARIO – Wayne Central Middle School celebrated student achievement and citizenship at the Annual Night of Awards ceremony on June 11. Students were recognized for academic excellence. In addition, the Larry Ruth Art Award and the JoAnne Huff Service award recipients were announced.
At the end of the ceremony, special recognition was given to the nominees and the two recipients of the Edward R. Courier Award. The Courier Award is a prestigious award given to students for outstanding academic performance and community service.

Edward R. Currier Award Recipients: Dylan Galusha and Brayden Riel
Dylan Galusha is an athletic and academically successful student whose favorite class is Biology. Dylan has received numerous awards, including the sixth grade Citizenship Award, seventh grade Spanish Award, seventh grade Citizenship Award, and Top 10% Award for sixth, seventh and eighth grades. He is also a member of the National Junior Honor Society. Dylan currently participates in modified track and played modified football last fall. Outside of school, Dylan keeps busy with baseball, golf and riding four-wheelers. He shows his good citizenship by volunteering to help with his little brother’s town recreation team. Dylan puts forth his full work effort in all he does, especially school and sports.
Brayden Riel has a wide variety of interests. He has been on high honor roll all year, enjoys Math, Technology, is a member of the Technology Student Association and has competed in Tech Wars. In fact, he earned second place in the state for CO2 cars. Brayden also enjoys sports, having participated in lacrosse, basketball, and JV soccer at Wayne. In previous years, Brayden has received awards for Citizenship and Math. Outside of school, he enjoys water skiing, boating, swimming, fishing and hunting. Brayden is a very dedicated student and athlete.
