LYONS - After years of downsizing to accommodate the ailing auto industry, Parker Hannifin Corp. announced last week it would close its two manufacturing facilities in Lyons by the end of December.

Schumer: Army Corps to Assess Invasive Species at Sodus Bay

SODUS POINT - At a meeting at the Sodus Yacht Club last August, U.S. Sen. Chuck Schumer said he would ask the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to examine the spread of water chestnut weeds on Sodus Bay.

Something to Celebrate
Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Schnabel of Manchester, celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary with family on June 24.  Mrs. Schnabel in the former Bessie Briggs from Sodus Point and lived as a little girl in the home that is now Pop's House of Country Collectibles.  Arthur Schnable was owner of Lyons Oil Supply. Bessie and Arthur were married in the Sodus Point United Methodist Church by Rev. Frank VanHee in 1939.
Sodus Farmers' Market
I want to keep reminding everyone about the Sodus Farmers Market on Wednesdays from 3 - 7 p.m., located behind the Sodus United Third Methodist Church.  It's a great opportunity to get the freshest fruits, veggies and baked goods.  Every week you will find different vendors as the crops become ripe.
