CLYDE – More than 500 people on the Parks and Trails NY group tour from Buffalo to Albany plus 50 volunteers stopped in the village last week as part of their 400-mile, eight-day trip. This annual tour is set up to promote the canal system and the historic Canal Corridor and support tourism development through cycling tours.

Renaissance Fest has Soft Opening

STERLING -- Although the attendance for the first couple weekends of the Renaissance Festival has been modest, owner Doug Waterbury remains optimistic the following weekends will be better.
Waterbury said he was warned by the former owners that soft openings were typical.  He also knew that opening on the Fourth of July weekend meant a lot of people would have other events to attend, but that it was a good test run for all the new acts on a smaller crowd.
The second weekend saw better attendance, according to Waterbury.

No One Walked Alone at Clyde's Relay for Life

CLYDE – In March 2008, Clyde Grange member Ann Taber arranged to have a speaker from the American Cancer Society do a presentation at their meeting.  Robin Ferrin-Travis, director of Community Health Initiatives and Special Events came and the Grange decided to become the lead agency to bring a Relay for Life to Eastern Wayne County.

SAVANNAH - Donald Colvin, who lost the Savannah supervisor’s seat to Ken Lauderdale after serving 48 years in office, will challenge Lauderdale in a Republican primary in September in an attempt to win back his seat.
