PORT BYRON - The family of Dana West and the Port Byron Alumni Association invite the community to attend a celebration of his life on July 25 at 1 p.m. in the auditorium of the Dana L. West High School, 30 Maple Avenue, Port Byron. A light reception will follow the service. In lieu of flowers the family suggests a contribution to the scholarship fund in his honor.
Dana was an honored and respected member of the Port Byron faculty and coached a myriad of school teams. He starred on the basketball court and football field at Savannah High School and Cortland Normal School. He was also active in the John Cool Post American Legion, Cayuga County American Legion, United Way, and chaired the Cayuga County Family Service Board. He served on almost every school committee, was a class advisor, principal, confidant, mentor and model for generations of Port Byron students.
