As I See It- Learn from my Mistake: Have Your Dog Checked for Heartworm

If you can’t remember the last time your dog had a heartworm test, especially if you live in the eastern part of Wayne County, call your vet and make an appointment now.
It doesn’t matter if your dog is small, doesn’t spend a lot of time in the woods, or even has been on a preventative medication recently; he or she may not be safe. All it takes is a bite from a mosquito carrying the illness.

To The Editor:
I was sitting in the sunroom, looking out the west windows, admiring the green yard, the orchards and Sodus Bay in the distance. My attention was quickly aroused as I watched a beautiful adult flicker. With his red and black whisker stripes, he appeared to be nonchalantly pacing across the freshly mowed grass. This brought to mind a scenario that happened in this very same spot about eight or 10 years ago.
