Baker, 55 of 318 Church St., Newark, faces a second-degree arson charge for allegedly starting that fire and is a “person of interest” in a fire the day before within in sight of the Elm Street fire. That first blaze, on Colton Avenue, killed a man, 42-year-old Vincent Bell.
Bell’s girlfriend and their two children were slightly injured, but escaped the fire with Bell’s help. He did not make it out of the house in time.
