HURON – The towns of Huron and Wolcott are working together to bring a new water district to the west side of Port Bay.
The Port Bay area was identified as a high priority project after
Wolcott completed a “Strategic Plan for Water System Improvements” in
2007.
The project will include about 181 homes in Huron, and another 110 in Wolcott.
The joint venture between the two towns will be headed by Wolcott, who

Baker Placed at Fire Scene

NEWARK – A Wolcott man delivering papers said he saw Rickey Baker
leaving a porch on Elm Street, carrying a container shortly before the
porch burst into flames Aug. 14.
Baker, 55 of 318 Church St., Newark, faces a second-degree arson charge
for allegedly starting that fire and is a “person of interest” in a
fire the day before within in sight of the Elm Street fire. That first
blaze, on Colton Avenue, killed a man, 42-year-old Vincent Bell.
Bell’s girlfriend and their two children were slightly injured, but
escaped the fire with Bell’s help. He did not make it out of the house
in time.
