SODUS - Sodus Chamber of Commerce has many plans for the upcoming fall. The Sept. 3 meeting on Health Care presented by BeneCare is certainly timely. The program starts at 7 p.m. at the Sodus Reliant Credit Union (north entrance). The public is welcome to attend this free event but needs to reserve a seat by calling the chamber at 576-3818 by Sept. 1.

Megan Marie Darnell Romer Receives PhD

Megan Marie Romer received PhD in statistics from Pennsylvania State University on Aug. 15. Romer was a 1996 Clyde-Savannah High School Graduate; received a BS from State University of New York at Oswego and a MS degree from Penn State. Romer is employed as a professor of Statistics by World Campus through Pennsylvania State University. She is the daughter of James and Diane Darnell of Clyde.

Montezumer Audubon Center Announces Teacher Workship

The Montezuma Audubon Center and Seneca Meadows Environmental Education Center invite teachers to Teacher Workshops on Sept. 3 from 8:30 a.m. - 2 p.m. Workshops will introduce the Centers’ new school field trip opportunities. Both workshops will be led by Audubon staff.

Farm Bureau to Ask for Border Patrol Inquiry

NORTH ROSE – Border patrol officers can’t break the law to enforce it, the Wayne County Farm Bureau is asserting.
Farm Bureau is in the process of gathering information for a formal complaint to the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Buffalo, asking for an investigation into the circumstances of the stop of four migrant farm workers on Route 414 in front of Barbara Jean’s Furniture Store Aug. 17.
Also, U.S. Sen. Kristen Gillibrand was made aware of the incident last week and indicated she will write a letter to Department of Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napalitano regarding border patrol activity in Wayne County.
