Finger Lakes Chorale Seeks Area Singers for Upcoming Concerts

CANANDAIGUA – The Finger Lakes Chorale of Finger Lakes Community College, under the direction of Dennis Maxfield, is seeking new members for two performances of secular and sacred music of the holiday season on Dec. 12 and 13.
Rehearsals begin on Sept. 8, but registration will be ongoing through Sept. 22. Registration and rehearsals take place on Tuesdays at 7 p.m. in room B-355 at FLCC’s Canandaigua campus, 3325 Marvin Sands Drive. Singers should arrive early in order to complete the registration process.

Oaks Meets with Corrections Officers

AUBURN - Last week, Assemblyman Robert C. Oaks (R,C - Macedon) joined his Assembly Minority colleagues in hosting a forum on workforce issues in the correctional system at the Cayuga County office building in Auburn. Included in the discussion were representatives from the New York State Correction Officers and Police Benevolent Association (NYSCOBA), Auburn State Prison, Cayuga Correctional Facility and Butler Correctional Facility.
“Hearing testimony directly from correction officers was extremely helpful to all of the legislators in attendance,” said Oaks.

Dalton Election Appeal successful

ROCHESTER – Rank and file Republican voters in Wayne County will decide which candidate will appear on their ballot line line after all.
A state appellate court last week overturned state Supreme Court Judge John Ark’s ruling that upheld the Wayne County Board of Elections’ decision to disqualify 67 signatures on David Dalton’s nominating petitions. At the request of Wayne County Republican Chairman Daniel Olsen and with advice from the state Board of Elections, local elections officials disqualified the signatures, The witnesses who circulated the petition on which they appeared stated they lived in the Town of Wolcott when they actually lived in the part of the Village of Wolcott that is located in the Town of Butler.
